Run by a pair of contemporary glass artists, Nido is hidden down a narrow path near the bottom end of Yanaka Ginza.

Based in a former dressmaking workshop, the compact shop is home to a charming array of one-of-a-kind lamps, mirrors and ornaments, all of which are made by hand in the workshop at the rear.

Artists Eriko Mano and Kyoko Yaguchi aim to create works that conjure up images of mysterious places and ancient stories. In addition to developing their own creations, the duo hold hands-on workshops that guide participants through the process of making their own glass items.

Attracting commissions from throughout Japan, Nido’s lamps can be found nearby at Rainbow Kitchen, while you may just catch a glimpse of their custom-made panels and signage as you traverse the city.
