Arrive early at Saito-yu and you’re likely to find a bunch of locals waiting with sento baskets in hand, ready to partake in their daily soaking ritual.

Renovated in 2015, the 80-year-old bathhouse remains a fixture of the Nippori community, providing a place for multiple generations to gather, relax and replenish.

Whether you’re a bathhouse lover or simply looking to indulge in some well-earned relaxation, Saito-yu features a selection of baths with a hint of retro style, from pastel-tiled sleeping baths to an open-air bath with silky soft waters.

Born and raised in Nippori, owner Katsuteru Saito and his staff are welcoming ambassadors for the area and are on hand to share tips for your post-sento travels.
